Membership Benefits
Mentorship Program
This program is open to new members during their first year who are interested in having a SABM member as a mentor. Mentors serve as a resource for questions regarding SABM and blood management. At the Society’s Annual Meeting in September, there will be an opportunity to meet with your mentor.
Recognition
SABM members benefit from being associated with a society recognized as a leader in the field of blood management. Because blood management is a highly valuable contribution to the world of healthcare, we can continue to shape new ways of thinking so that the public awareness continues to grow and the medical community will better recognize and embrace blood management.
Continuing Education
SABM members receive a registration discount for the Annual Meeting. This is SABM’s primary educational event. The principal goal of this event is to provide blood management education, which includes the better use of blood products, blood conservation and transfusion alternatives in every day clinical practice using evidence based and/or a consensual approach.
Networking Opportunities
SABM members have the opportunity to work with colleagues who have the same interest at heart. SABM strives for an interdisciplinary approach to all projects. You will be able to work with other members on committee projects. SABM also collaborates with other organizations, such as blood banks, universities and health systems.
SABM Website
As a member you will have immediate access to critical information regarding transfusion medicine and blood management. The website hosts a database that is a resource for finding hospitals in your area with blood management programs offering a dedicated team approach to utilizing alternatives to conserve blood. You will also have access to the members’ only area of the website, which features an online membership database, information about SABM research initiatives, and abstracts with the latest information in blood management.
Project Opportunities
New Initiatives: The Board of Directors has developed a process for new opportunities, projects, and partnerships to be considered by the leadership for potential implementation. Members are encouraged to submit new initiatives for consideration.
Committee Involvement: SABM members are given the opportunity to establish and implement tactics that support the Society’s strategic plan by participating on committees.
