Call for Abstracts
Poster Abstract Submission
Abstract Deadline: May 15, 2009
The Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM®) invites members and non-members to submit abstracts for review for poster presentation in conjunction with the SABM® 2009 Annual Meeting to be held September 11-13, 2009 at the Marriott Kansas City Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri. Abstracts submitted by the May 15, 2009 deadline will be evaluated for poster/oral presentation.
The top abstracts will be selected for an 8-12 minute oral presentation at the Annual Meeting.
JOURNAL PUBLICATION: Selected abstracts with permission to publish will be published in the Journal Transfusion.
SUBMISSION: Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the SABM Web Site at www.sabm.org.

FORMAT: Abstracts must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document. The abstract should arrive either as one paragraph, or in four sections;
- Introduction,
- Patients (or Materials) and Methods,
- Results
- Conclusion.
Any tables should be simple. It is strongly recommended that figures should not be supplied. If figures are necessary, they should be of high quality ready for print reproduction, and lettering/symbols/lines should be clear and distinct for publication. All figures should be Black and White only, and if they are not vector (eps) format be at least 300 dpi.
FONT: Font size must be 12 point
LENGTH: 500 word maximum

GUIDELINES: The following guidelines address key factors that the SABM Abstract Review Committee considers when reviewing abstracts. Attention to these details will assist the Committee in making their decision.
- The abstract must adequately describe the objectives and results of the study so that the quality of work can be evaluated by the Abstract Committee. The title of the abstract should be fully informative of the contents and should consist of: a) an introduction that presents the purpose of the study; b) a brief description of the procedures employed; c) a summary of the results; and d) a statement of the conclusions.
- The financial sponsor(s) of the study should be listed at the end of all abstracts. All authors must indicate whether or not they have a personal financial interest in the study sponsor(s) and, if so, the nature of the interest.
- SABM accepts Encore Abstracts.
- Notification for those abstracts selected for presentation will be sent by June 29, 2009.
- All abstract presenters will be required to register for the meeting and pay all registration and travel costs.

ABSTRACT PRIZES:
First Place - $500 and complimentary one-year SABM membership
Second Place - $250 and complimentary one-year SABM membership
Third Place - $100 and complimentary one-year SABM membership
