Target Audience

The target audience for the SABM® Annual Meeting is medical professionals who care for anemic and surgical patients and administrators who are interested in improving patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. SABM® is a multi-disciplinary organization, and meeting attendance includes a wide variety of medical specialties, comparable to the composition of our membership.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply clinical knowledge regarding the diagnosis and treatment of anemia

  • Identify the benefits of patient blood management relative to allogeneic blood transfusion using clinical and economic data

  • Utilize fundamental blood management strategies and guidelines for effective transfusion

  • Explain The Joint Commission blood management metrics

  • Debate the proper management of massive blood loss and hemostasis

  • Interpret relevant literature regarding controversial topics in patient blood management
