SABM members benefit from being associated with a society recognized as a leader in the field of patient blood management. Because patient blood management is a highly valuable contribution to the world of healthcare, its members can shape new ways of thinking so that public awareness grows and the medical community will better recognize and embrace patient blood management.
Competent healthcare professionals are the backbone of effective patient blood management programs. The Annual Meeting is SABM's primary educational event wherein the learning objectives are centered on the latest science and best practices in patient blood management. Members receive a tuition discount.
Members have the opportunity to work with colleagues who share the same interest and vision. SABM strives for an interdisciplinary approach to all projects. Members are able to work with other members on committee projects. SABM also collaborates with other organizations, such as blood banks, universities, and health systems.
Members have immediate access to critical and current science about patient blood management and transfusion medicine through the monthly EZINE, past Annual Meeting presentations, and abstracts. Members also have access to an online membership database and oportunities to participate in SABM research initiatives and access to locating other hospital-based PBM programs.
The Board of Directors has developed a process for initiatives to be evaluated by leadership; members are encouraged to submit proposals for potential implementation. Members are invited to implement projects that support the Society’s strategic plan by participating on the following committees:
